For example, if you were to never change your oil, you might end up with a sludge that seizes your engine! 

Knowledge: Some motorists opt out of maintenance for DIY jobs. For those who know what they're doing, it's a great way to save on part replacement and common maintenance items. However, not everyone has the knowledge, equipment, or parts to service their vehicle. If you're not into DIY repairs and maintenance, or you don't have the time to learn, don't let things go! Forgetfulness: Last, there are drivers who plan on taking their vehicles in for maintenance but forget or have "other things to do."
